NASA Rally Sport and the FIA

About the FIA

The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) is based in France and is the worldwide, international body that governs the highest levels of motorsports. Series like the WRC and F1 are run by the FIA. They also are generally the leaders on many safety, organizational, and competition rules.

About ACCUS

ACCUS (Automobile Competition Committee of the United States) is the umbrella under which all of its members can access FIA sanctions and memberships. The FIA is the "parent body" of ACCUS. ACCUS is essentially "FIA in America".

Several organizations are members of ACCUS:

  • United States Auto Club (USAC)
  • National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR)
  • National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)
  • Professional Sports Car Racing (IMSA)
  • Indy Racing League (IRL)
  • Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)

About USAC

USAC (United States Auto Club) is an organization that can issue event sanctions and memberships. USAC was founded in 1955, and today runs a variety of racing types, including land speed records, sprint car racing, and midgets car racing. ACCUS is the "parent body" of USAC.

About NASA Rally Sport (NRS)

NASA Rally Sport has an affiliate agreement with USAC to allow United States Rally Championship events to be listed on the FIA International calendar for FIA sanctioned events. USAC is the "parent body" of NASA Rally Sport.
