Alright, rally fans! The wait is over. The 2025 NASA Rally Sport (NRS) Regulations Section 3: Technical Regulations for Cars is officially live, and we're excited to roll out the updates that will shape the upcoming season. After a productive comment period, where your feedback proved invaluable, we've finalized the regulations, and they're ready for your perusal.
What's New for 2025?
This year's revisions focus on enhancing safety, improving clarity, and ensuring fair competition. Here's a breakdown of the key changes:
- Safety Enhancements:
- We've updated the requirements for roll cage construction, aligning with the latest international safety standards. This ensures maximum protection for our drivers and co-drivers.
- We've codified requirements for grandfathering older cars and made it more clear what is required for these vehicles built to older standards to continue racing for the coming years.
- We've made many improvements in safety related regulations throughout, make sure you give it a good read for new requirements. Some notable examples are fuel system requirements, tow points, tow straps, and others.
- Clarity and Consistency:
- We've streamlined the language in several sections, particularly regarding vehicle classification and homologation. This should eliminate any ambiguity and make it easier for competitors to understand the rules.
- The procedures for technical inspections to obtain a logbook have been clarified, ensuring a consistent approach and helping new competitors to understand our processes.
- Simplicity:
- True to our Grassroots spirit we tried to eliminate requirements where they did not add value and could be cumbersome to competitors.
- Competition Adjustments:
- Minor adjustments have been made to some classes to maintain competitive balance and clarify where FIA classes fit into our competitive structure.
- Thanks to comments received and review of previous race results we revised the draft rule for the Open AWD Light Class adjusted displacement limit such that 6 cylinder 3.0 Liter cars will still be in OAL rather than OAH.
Why These Changes?
The NRS is committed to continuous improvement. We believe these updates will contribute to a safer, fairer, and more exciting rally experience for everyone involved. Your input during the comment period was crucial in shaping these revisions, and we appreciate your dedication to the sport.
