Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Knoxville, TN (November 21, 2005)
Championship consists of 12 rounds, including the return of the Black River Stages as well as four tarmac rounds
The 2006 Eastern States Rally Championship (ESRC) calendar was announced and regulations published by championship officials today in Knoxville. Included will be the return of the Black River Stages in New York State, as well as multiple tarmac rounds in New York State and Tennessee.
The 2006 schedule will begin with the traditional Sandhills Sandblast in Cheraw, South Carolina in February. The event’s organization has been transferred to Anders Green, in order to allow former organizer Charles Sherrill to concentrate on the organization of a new event.
March will find ESRC competitors contesting two rounds, the Parksville Stages and Ocoee Stages, running concurrently with the first round of the United States Rally Championship (USRC), the Cherokee Trails International Rally in Tennessee. The action will then head north for Rally New York USA in early April for two full Tarmac Rounds, again in conjunction with that USRC event.
May brings the return of the Black River Stages in New York to Eastern States ralliers after a two year hiatus. Organizer Greg Healey is excited about its return, and it promises to be as fun and low-key as in years past.
In June, ralliers will head to a new event, Rally West Virginia. Held exclusively on the county rounds of Randolph County, West Virginia, this gravel event promises to be a welcome addition to the ESRC calendar. In July, ralliers will travel to Cadillac, Michigan for Rally Michigan, another gravel event.
Early September will find competitors running the tarmac Linden Town Stages and Perry County Stages in conjunction with the USRC’s Rally Tennessee in Perry County, Tennessee. Having received overwhelming competitor kudos in its inaugural running in 2005, expect a full and fast field for this event.
The final two rounds of the 2006 ESRC will run on gravel alongside Round Six of the USRC, the International Rally New York in late September.
The 2006 Eastern States Rally Championship consists of NASA Rally Sport sanctioned events, and is coordinated by Rally Promotions, LLC.
